Oklahoma Unemployment Falls Below Six Percent
Rates of unemployment are still so high in so many states that many of us are left with pretty bleak feelings. We all know someone—or multiple someones—who has been finding that nailing a job is more elusive than it appears to be. My own husband has been on a dozen interviews and still has nothing to show for it but a bunch of wasted gasoline for each one.
In some areas of the country, however, things are looking up. In Oklahoma, the unemployment rate is now below six percent, dwindling to just 5.6 percent in April. It appears that the state never had it quite as bad as the other states might have, with a 7.2 percent this time last year while many other states continued to suffer with rates surpassing ten to twelve percent. Still, it’s nice to see that the majority of the people in Oklahoma who want jobs do have them.
